When I make art, whether I am painting, sewing, welding, or doing colIage, I completely lose myself as I combine color and form to create a world that is beautiful yet playful. Using acrylic and watercolor paints, charcoal, pencil, paper, and whatever else is at hand, I make images that I hope are accessible to viewers of all ages. I frequently paint bugs and animals, which may be realistic, but may also come straight from my imagination. I also love to paint still lifes. But whatever I am creating, my work always conveys a sense of fancy and delight.
I make a special effort to create pieces that are appealing to children, blending vivid colors with whimsical creatures to create an atmosphere that is fun and captivating. In the last eight years, I have been making children’s name paintings. I have painted about 30 of these 9” x 12” images, which combine the child’s name with their favorite animals, all in an idyllic setting, such as on the savannas of Africa or on the beaches of Hawaii. |
